The Playhouse Arrives!

Trenton's playhouse came and Landon and I set it up right away. Poor Trenton was confined to his crib while we built it so he wouldn't grab any of the small pieces. He sat there watching us, wondering what was going on and why he was trapped! Then we pushed the completed house against the wall, closed the door, and let him out to explore. He immediately found the doorbell and the phone, which both make sounds, and pushed buttons to his heart's content. He also enjoys opening the door, walking in, and then closing it behind him. It is so fun to watch him play. Sometimes we'll be in the living room and he'll crawl back to his room by himself and then we hear the doorbell repeatedly! :-) The best part is, it will only get better from here. He'll grow and so will his imagination and the house will become all sorts of settings for make-believe. We already bought a fake hamburger and french fries and a set of Keebler cookies for him to "eat" at his table. Tonight he even brought the layer of pickles from the burger into the bath, so he must like them!! He is such a joy to watch and we are so grateful for such a fun present.

Boys Will Be Boys

Well, Trenton has it all figured out as a guy: grab the remote and claim the lazy boy. I wonder who he learned that from!! :-)

Playtime with Dad

There's nothing like wrestling with dad after he gets home from work!! Trenton always breaks into a big grin when Landon gets home. Just the other day, Trenton heard the garage and pointed; he knew what that sound meant: Dad's Home!!

The Intellectual

Trenton has become a very studious one year old. Often, we catch him looking through books as if he's really reading them! On Sunday, he actually sat still for at least 20 minutes "reading" The Very Busy Spider. Landon and I were very excited because that was one of our favorite books as children. He was so cute, with his whistle around his neck, reading and laughing at the story! I wish I had a video of it.

The Chef

I may be wrong, but doesn't the food go in the pot?? :-)

Milestone

Trenton did it!! I had been fighting with him for a couple of weeks trying to break in the sippy cup. Then Mimi and Pops mentioned the old tupperware ones they used when we were all kids. I was reluctant to try it because it doesn't have a no-spill seal. Well unbeknownst to me or my parents, Grandma pulled out an old tupperware cup that used to be Landon's and tried it one night with water. Trenton seemed to do pretty well. So, once again, new is not always better than old. I tried the same cup and he took to it right away. He even laughed about it, whereas previously he cried over every cup I tried! So, here's the proof . . .

The Wedding

Logan Anderson and Marcela Cabra got married on October 21st on a beach in California. It was a beautiful wedding and we were all very excited to be a part of it. Landon was the pastor officiating and it was his first time ever! He did a wonderful job, including sharing some funny stories about Logan when he was a child. Here are some of the pictures I took during the ceremony.

While we were in California for Logan and Marcela's wedding, Trenton had his first visit to the beach!!

King of the Mountain

Trenton played on top of this mat for at least half an hour, laughing and talking. I'm assuming he was thrilled at having conquered such a high summit! :)

Peek-a-Boo

This is such a funny video!! Trenton loves to play peek-a-boo in our drapes so he'll crawl over there and bury his face in them waiting for me to come over. Well, this time it was Tazo who came over to play!! :-)

A Visit from Mimi and Pops

We had such a good time with Mimi and Pops while they were here. We had Trenton's birthday party on Sunday, Monday we went to the mall and watched the football game, and Tuesday we took a tour of Southwestern. Other than that, we just spent time together and chatted about everything going on in Mesa and in Coeur d'Alene. We miss you already Mimi and Pops!!

Trenton's First Birthday!!

On October 18, my little boy turned one year old. It has been a delightful year watching him grown and learn new things. I am sad to leave his "babyhood" behind, but at the same time I love every new stage. He laughs and talks and tries to walk and ever knows his own name now.

We had a wonderful party to celebrate this big event, complete with family, friends, cupcakes, presents, yummy food, and lots of laughs. Here are some of the highlights . . .

My Big Boy

What a big boy! He's eating peas, carrots, and cut up chicken. He does well with this new food. I rarely have to help him anymore. And I have finally found a good use for Tazo :) Any food that Trenton drops, Tazo eats before I even realize it has hit the floor. It sure makes my clean up easy!

The Last Meal

On Monday, Trenton ate his very last meal of baby food in a jar! I was feeling a little nostalgic so I had to take pictures to document it. Here's the beginning shot, waiting for lunch.

Then I handed him one of the jars for a picture. It turned out even better than I had hoped! Doesn't he look like he's singing about the food?! Maybe he's a little nostalgic about the last meal too :-)

And here are the after pictures. His face is smeared with spinach, chicken, and strawberries. Yum!

Bubbles

Landon and I were at Target buying diapers, a necessity. Well, he (yes, that's right Landon, not me) starts walking around the baby section. He tells me he wants to buy something fun for Trenton. First he looks at a $20 ASU outfit. Finally, I got him to agree on a $1.75 bottle of Spiderman bubble bath. Although, he did have to tell Trenton that he wanted the outfit and meanie mom wouldn't let him! So, Trenton got his first bubble bath. He loved it, or should I say loved eating it! He kept trying to dive into the bubbles with his mouth wide open or grab a handful to shove in his mouth. Landon and I were laughing pretty hard. It's become our Sunday night tradition now.

Fooling Around with Dad

Trenton's first game of wheelbarrow!

Owie!

Awhile back, Trenton ran into the cabinet and got a scrape on his nose that scabbed and left a little scar. Well, now he has added to the list. He pulled the humidifier from a side table down onto his face. It scraped off an entire layer of skin from the same side of his nose!! Here's a picture of the battle wound (the humidifier got in a good shot, but Trenton won in the end) and a picture of the band-aid I put on to stop the bleeding. I must admit when the crying was finished and the bleeding stopped, I had to laugh. He moves so fast; I turn my back for a second and he's pulling things down before I can even react. And the band-aid looked so silly stretched across his nose :)

Then, the next day, he decided to crawl behind the toilet and get stuck between the wall and the toilet! I actually started to panick a little because I couldn't figure out how to get him out. His shoulders and head were blocking him in so I couldn't just pull his legs and slide him out. We finally made it and he escaped with only a scrape along one side of his head. I guess I'm beginning to understand why boys get so many injuries!!

Anne's Visit

Anne came up from Tucson for a weekend and we were lucky enough to snag some of her time :) She and Chris had lunch with us, and then the boys watched some football on TV. Trenton loves when they come over to play! Isn't this such a great picture?? Everyone is smiling so beautifully. Anne also brought Trenton a wildcats outfit. Landon gave her a hard time, but I'm going to make sure he wears it in her honor!!

Lunch with Uncle Chris

We met Chris at Southwestern on Monday. We got to see his apartment and then we went to In N Out for lunch. Trenton brought his cell phone too, in case anyone wanted to reach him while he was out :)

Cabinet "Hide and Go Seek"

The other day, I'm in the kitchen and I can hear Trenton but I can't see him. He had crawled in through the right side of the cabinet, which was open, and hid behind the closed left door. When I spotted him, he was folded in half to fit under the shelf!!

Then he saw me looking at him, and screamed with laughter before trying to escape!

I guess he's found another "fort" besides the dog crate.

I must admit that I prefer this one :)

Mr. Smiley

His skin is kinda bright from the flash, but these are still some of my favorite pictures. In the top left one, doesn't he look like he's up to something?!?! That's my mischievous little boy! :) And in the top right one you can see 4 of his 6 teeth. He's got quite the chompers now!! Posted by Picasa

Grand Canyon Trip

I deserve a badge for two reasons: I hiked the Grand Canyon and I left Trenton with Grandma and Grandpa overnight without balling my eyes out! Landon and I went camping this past weekend at the Grand Canyon. I haven't been camping in about 10 years!! I had fun, though. Then the next day, we decided to go down Angel Bright Trail, which is 8 miles one way to Plateau Point. No, I did not hike 16 miles, but I did hike 6 and I thought I was going to die. We went down into the canyon and I was doing ok. I had a blister on one heel and I was a little tired. Then we turned around to go back UP 3 miles!! I told Landon mid way that I would rather go through labor again than finish the hike :-) I was so tired and we had to climb about 2000 feet in elevation over the 3 miles back to the top of the canyon. When we finally made it, my legs were BLUE because I had sweat so much, the dye from jeans had dyed my legs!! All Landon could say was, at least we got some really cool pictures. I put some below if you care to look . . . then you won't have to go through what I did to see these sights!

Video Time!

Here is a close up video of Trenton smiling and babbling. He was playing in Tazo's crate when he saw me with the camera. All of a sudden the camera became a more interesting toy than the crate! He keeps trying to grab it from me . . . watch and laugh :)

Stardom

Ok, so this is way cool. Chelsea, Landon's sister, got married at the zoo and they used her wedding picture for a flier they sent out! I guess they are having a bridal show/fair at the zoo and to advertise they used this picture. I'm famous :) I'll sign a copy for anyone who wants one . . .

Catch Up

I posted a smattering of pictures all at once. I was going through my computer and there were SO many cute ones; I couldn't resist!

Hope it's not sensory overload :)

Rock On!

Aunt Caitlyn gave Trenton this mohawk while we were at the park and he was covered in sunblock. Who knew sunblock could be used as styling gel?! Isn't he the cutest . . .

It's the Real Thing

Well, I guess we know his first choice in soda. Pops will be happy! :)

Trenton's Fort or Tazo's Crate?

Trenton has found his new favorite place to play . . . . . Tazo's crate :) Whenever the gate is open he crawls right in and plays around, sometimes even closing the door on himself. Tazo always sniffs around so confused. At least he hasn't tried to join him in there yet!! Posted by Picasa

The Lazy Boy

Landon just got a lazy boy, which is something he has dreamed about for 10 years! It came in two pieces and he had to connect it and then lock it in place with a screwdriver. Trenton crawled over to help dad with his tools! Then when the project was completed, he got to sit in the chair and celebrate success with dad. Posted by Picasa

Family Time

Here's the whole Kemp family together.

Here's a picture we took the last night we were in Colorado.
Trenton loved spending time with his aunts and uncles.

Bathtime

Here's a couple of pictures of Trenton in his bath. He loves the water, but I have to say his favorite part of bathtime is the washcloth! I'm now in the habit of pulling two washcloths out of the cabinet when preparing for the bath because I know he'll want one and I'll need one to wash. It's so funny how quickly he learned to look for it. I'll put him in his little bath chair and he'll practically fall out of it trying to reach for the cloths I have on the side of the tub!! Then, after we're done and I pull him out of the tub, he holds on to the cloth still. Most of the time he doesn't even hold it in his hands, but hanging from his mouth while his arms wave around in the air in excitement. It's very cute and it's become one of his quirks that we'll enjoy reminding him when he's older.

Bam Bam

This is a bat that Corey and Amaris gave Trenton when he was born. Corey works in the Sports Ministry at Central and he and his wife are in the small group we just started. The bat just now became one of Trenton's favorite toys! We call him our own little Bam Bam because he waves it around and drags it behind him when he's crawling. It's especially funny when he does his "ooh ooh" face holding the bat because he sounds like a little caveman :) Posted by Picasa

Family Reunion in Colorado

We just got back from 8 days in Colorado with my family, my aunts and uncles, and my Grandma. It was such a blast and so wonderful to all be together. Plus, the weather was cool and we were surrounded by trees and mountains. We stayed in a cabin that sleeps 14 in Frisco, a ski resort town that was beautiful. We were right by the little downtown full of shops and bakeries and so we walked there a couple of times during the week. Plus, we rafted on the Arkansas River, watched a Rockies game at Coors Field, played bocce ball and volleyball at a local park, and celebrated my mom and my aunt's birthdays with presents and pie! Every moment together was so special, especially since we live far away. Trenton got a lot of time with my family, especially his aunt Caitlyn who wanted to hold him and his diaper bag every time we left the cabin! :) She and Trenton are going to be really close. Below are some pictures with the highlights of the trip.
